YOUR PARTICIPATION IS NEEDED:

Customized Wheelchairs - A Dialogue with DSS

The Department of Social Services is holding a public meeting to discuss the concerns of individuals with disabilities over Connecticut's new proposed customized wheelchair regulations.

WHEN: Monday March 31st
TIME: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
WHERE: CT Department of Transportation, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington.

Your voice needs to be heard!

Just showing up will go a long way!

"In order to be able to have more robust conversations before moving towards finalizing the regulation, to postpone the public hearing on the regulation from March 31 until a future date, to be determined, but to retain the meeting time at the Department of Transportation for an informal meeting at which we invite you to share your viewpoint with us.

Our reason for taking these actions is that it is clear to the Department that individuals with disabilities and other stakeholders in the disability community have significant concerns about the proposed regulations.  Consistent with the Department’s charge as steward of the Medicaid program, which carries responsibility for determining eligibility for and ensuring access by Medicaid beneficiaries to Medicaid-covered services, we look forward to more opportunity to meet with you and to work through your expressed concerns. "

[Kate McEvoy, Esq., Director, Division of Health Services, Connecticut Department of Social Services”]

A good turnout is essential. This could be an opening for future such meetings about all the issues of concern to individuals regarding Medicaid!
