NSCIA-CT & Powerful Tools for Caregivers

2/26/2013 12:00:00 AM

The CT Chapter of NSCIA Board Member, Todd Johnston is working with Dr. Bill Vacek who is a CT Chapter member of the NSCIA on providing Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC), which provides caregivers the tools and strategies that they need to better handle the unique challenges they face daily.

NSCIA CT is collaborated with Gaylord Hospital in bringing PTC into CT. We held the Class Leader training course in mid March 2012 at Gaylord Hospital. Then in April 2012, the first PTC course for the family caregiver took place, with many more classes being held throughout Connecticut and throughout the year. This is a wonderful way for our chapter to give back to those family caregivers who have helped us over the years.

Through numerous collaborations with health and human service organizations across the country, the Powerful Tools for Caregivers program has reached over 70,000 family caregivers.

The Powerful Tools for Caregivers program is an evidence-based education program offering a unique combination of elements. The scripted curriculum and the intricately detailed training material, have guaranteed its consistency and quality. The program utilizes a train-the-trainer method of dissemination.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a program you can count on to make a positive difference in your life.

To find out about PTC 6-week classes for caregivers in CT or to become a trained PTC class Leader in CT, please contact the NSCIA Connecticut Chapter at (203) 284-2910 or PTCinCT@sciact.org
